THE SULTANATE OF NASII

Sultanate of Nasii Sultanateofnasii
'Victory through Vigilance'

Quote :
The Sultanate of Nasii lies low against the blazing dunes of Sida, ready to strike against its foes from the oldest and most sacred city, Nasii. Upon his castle of sandstone and brick, Sultan Ahbrahem II watches with the vigilance of Aten; God of the Sun. With a pact of sand and steel with the Sultanate of Seljuk, the nation prides itself in modern martial might, and it shows not only on the parade ground, but on the battlefield.

The Capital City of the Sultanate is Nasii. Formerly the capital of a unified Sida, it boasts a triple-layered wall system with cannon towers lining the walls. Inside it houses the largest parade ground, constructed over the remains of an old slave market. The ground itself is lined with mosaics and engravings detailing the foundation of Nasii, from the days past to the current. A victory arch stands proudly at the end of the ground, demonstrating the marshal might of Nasii. The city itself boasts a breathtaking fifty armouries. Within the demesne of the Sultan, there is a grand armoury that has been said to house a whole brigade's worth of Occitanian "Karolina" rifles.

The largest City is Halakh-Din in the north-west, an old mountain fortress once owned by the powerful Talibarian Empire. It was seized in the more recent Nasii-Talibarian War of Aggression, a fierce joint assault of forces from both Sultanates Nasii and Seljuk. Having been built by the Talibarian infidels, it stands gray and imposing upon the landscape. Repairwork has been done in certain spots, so the walls are marked with tanned sandstone where breaks have been repaired. A garrison of heavily-armed men takes watch over the lands around the imposing fortress, ready to repel any Talibarian raiders.

The Official language of the Sultanate is Sidan, and the Sultan prides himself in eloquent speech of the Sidan tongue. Having a great distrust for all things foreign, he trusts only in those who speak the pure tongue, and visitors must hire secondary translators, as although the Sultan knows Common, he does not wish to speak it outside of battle. Most Commoners will be Sidan, and to speak out in another tongue is considered extremely taboo. As such, foreigners keep themselves guarded within the population, as foreigners are openly attacked in the street merely for conversing in foreign tongue.

The nation itself is a Sultanate, which means the hierarchy of nobility/royalty descends from the Sultan in Nasii. Below him there are military leaders, who also govern fortress and towns. Zufarites are the top level of organisation, below the Sultan. Below them, much like other Sultanates, there are Mirs who rule the minor villages, as villages generally tend to be in the areas around the cities, and for easy counsel, they meet up with their Zufarite to discuss issues.

The Sultan, Ahbrahem II is said to have been bestowed his position by divine providence, though foreigners have dismissed such a claim. Nevertheless, Ahbrahem disputes these claims as foreign heresy, stating that he is the divine will of Aten. However, it is said that he secretly worships Shar, and each month he offers sacrifice of his foes to the god. Bestowing great power to his military commanders, he believes in natural selection and survival of the fittest. His Zufarites are extremely loyal to him, and some even would follow him to the point of death.

Ahbrahem II's full title and name would be:
Sultan Ahbrahem Arvenio II, Bestowed by Aten, Lord of Fire, Lord of the Grand Oasis and Protector of the Lands.

The primary exports of the country are weaponry of all kinds. Most sales are under the jurisdiction of the Quintana Cartel, who are funded by the Sultan himself to create order within the city and to bring wealth to the nobility. The primary imports to the country are slaves, war slaves and foreign mercenaries seeking employment. The currency of Nasii is the Paesa. One Paesa generally comes up to about One Sanctimonian unit of currency.

Quote :

The People's Army of Nasii is the personal guard of the Sultan, and follow his executive decision to the end. Most are hired from the nobility, but in times of war it has been seen that even commoners will answer the call to arms. The headquarters is located in Rahna, and headed at the top by the Sultan. To keep themselves uniform, the troops wear boiled armours and green dyed tunics. Using Occitanian tactics, the usual formation is pikes and skirmishers.

The army mainly uses rifles and pikes, as it has been found that they far outmatch any modern Talibarian tactic employed so far. Although there are brigades of horsemen, they are merely a flanking force for holding cities for the back-up reinforcements.
