- Protest turns violent; ten turn up dead, more murdered
Date: Saturday, April 23, 790 MoP Author:Mathew Wainwright
More protests were held today, condemning the Watch's seizure of Cartel assets and arrest of ranking Cartel officials, as well as outrage over the Watch's apparent leniency towards the growing goblin aggressors. Taking place around the governor's office, the closed 'Crook and Horns' tavern, and the Watch-House, most ended relatively peacefully, with Watchmen dispersing the crowds. At one, however, things took a very serious turn for the worse.
Following a gunshot from an unknown gunman, the already unruly crowd became panicked and violent. While it is not certain who fired the shot, many who were there say that it might have been a Watchman. Some, however, point the blame on Black Watch member Robyn Kluge, an apparent giantess who wields a cannon with her bare hands. This reporter has been to the scene, and observed the truly tremendous hole left behind by the gunshot. It seems impossible that a normal firearm could cause such damage.
Following the gunshot, the Watch assaulted the crowd with "Tempest Maces" (a type of weapon that administers a very painful electric shock) and other blunt weapons. Panicked, the large crowd attempted to flee, tragically trampling ten men and women to death. (The full list of deceased, as publicly released by the Watch, can be viewed at the end of this article.)
Perhaps the most horrifying part of this tale, however, occurred immediately following the panic. Near the front, an apparent madman unveiled a wicked looking blade, while being clad in what some report as "unholy armor". This figure then plunged into the crowd with wild abandon, hewing limbs and cutting down innocent people left and right. It is reported that at least seven people fell to his blade before the Watch acted, apprehending the madman a few blocks away.
It is the opinion of the author that this madman has only revealed, first hand, the startling problem plaguing Surna today. The Watch has proven more than willing to wantonly assault innocent civilians, all while ignoring the many internal and external threats. If such things can safely be said in Surna anymore, I would call for the Watch to immediately suspend the investigation of the Cartel until a later date, and focus on the dire problems that haunt our citizens. Constant arson. Wanton Goblin raids. Goblin kidnappers. Whether the Cartel is to blame must wait. Surna demands action.
Casualty List.

| Oh yes, the poor, psychotic madman who killed seven people. Such a sympathetic figure. | |
