It was afternoon in high-town, just outside the watch barracks, where Lieutenant Charles Swift of the Blackwatch was speaking with one of his squad's members, when Swift was shot and killed by an unknown perpetrator. The street quickly fell into panic as other members of the Blackwatch struggled to keep citizens out of the streets for fear of another attack, but made no efforts to locate the gunman.

Despite wearing armour and boiled leather, the bullet exited through Swift and embedded itself into the ground, before exploding in the street, not even a minute after Swift was carried to the church of Ilmartyr and proclaimed dead.

The gunman has not been identified or apprehended, and no authorities have made any comment since the incident.
