- The Cartel Once Again in the Spotlight!
Date: 13th of April Author: Arthur Turnbull
Earlier today we reported on the goblin retaliation to the slaughter of their kinsmen at the old Razel family mine, and we would now like to return to that story by reporting on the recent actions taken by the Cartel, as well as a statement from officials of the Cartel.
Ever since the demand made by the goblins to the Surnan authorities, regarding the handover of Cartel officials, it would seem that the Cartel have taken measure to ensure that this will never happen by stepping up recruitment drastically. They now employ nearly every mercenary and sell-sword in town through contracts that both mercenaries and the Cartel refuse to make public. In addition to the large amount of local mercenaries, roughly two dozen veteran mercenaries from Sida seem to have appeared on the streets.
All Cartel-owned business venues, as well as all businesses reportedly "under protection" by the Cartel, have been placed under guard by these mercenaries, and those already under guard seem to have had a great increase in the amount of force, to the point where the amount of guards is double of what it once was.
Fareed Abii, head of public relations for the Quintana Cartel had this to say:
"We urge the local authorities to not act on the demands made by this goblin menace. They are simple monsters looking for gold and status; and as such should be treated like nothing but a domestic pest. We also would like to make the local watch and military forces aware that any attempts at approaching Cartel personnel by law authorities will at the moment unfortunately have to be treated as hostile. This would also extend to any civilians attempting to approach the Cartel with seemingly hostile intent. We will do whatever it takes to safeguard our friends and family.
We apologize for this sincerely, and urge both the watch and citizens of Surna to see that this is not in any way a threat to their own well-being. We are simply safeguarding our own.
And with all that said, the Quintana family would like to officially extend offers for goblin-hunting contracts to not only the authorities, but to the families of those these goblin bandit clans have kidnapped. But the offer is not exclusive. Should anyone feel the need to pay for the safe return of these poor men and women that have been captured by the beasts, then the Cartel will happily oblige. Thank you." |
