Sanctimonian Invasion of SarkunThe Sarkun Jungles are in ruins, flooded by the taint of blood and rotting flesh of thousands upon thousands of soldiers - mortal and otherwise. Massive fires spread throughout the land, consuming much land in its wake. The skies stay blackened by the plumes of smoke in the horizon. Ships of various kind are wrecked across the coast. The walls of the cities are damaged, some even breached. Aranek settlements granted to them by the Emperor are nearly raised to the ground, burned by their ancient ha'dri rivals. The war was costly on all sides, but the Sanctimonian attack was held off by the Empire that has laid claim to Sarkun and other lands across Aeria. The population of the Empire remains heavily against the Concord and its allies, but for now the ha'dri natives that were left behind by the Sanctimonian retreat are subjugated in masses. Hunting parties grow more daring into the jungle, exploring the relatively unknown brush that is beyond the settlements to capture or kill ha'dri. Public executions are held nearly everyday in villages and cities as more and more citizens begin to arm themselves to protect their nation. Despite all this destruction and chaos, the Tower of Bane still stands defiantly against the wishes of the Concord. Legions of demons maneuver in and out of the Tower freely with varying purposes. While most offer relief and aid to repair buildings, stop fires, and to act as a military police force to temporarily replace the Demoniac Guard, who suffered major losses trying to evacuate citizens of the Empire to protect them from the invading forces. A memorial service immortalized the 3,000 Guardsmen and women erected a monument with each of their names upon it over their graves. It was at this event that the Emperor Marcus Olm first spoke after the war. He praised their actions of defending the citizens of the Empire even in the face of death. After this he spoke in front of his palace to the resta of the Empire.

The Empire Invades EstivonLong before the events of the Sarkunian Invasion by Sanctimonia, Marcus Olm, as Emperor launched the invasion of Estivon personally against the alfar Dominion. On the basis of liberating the land and returning it to the wild elf natives and to release them from the slavery the Dominion forced upon the natives, Marcus first captured many key inland forts using demonic legions of Hell and a combination of native freedom fighters called the Wardens. Other groups, like therianthropes also made their way to Marcus' banner of freedom for Estivon. The provincial governor of Estivon's fort was the first to fall but the governor's body was never found in the heap of bodies stacked after the conflict. After this, the simultaneous assault on three forts not marked on maps fell before the might of the demon legion. Survivors who surrendered were granted amnesty but nothing has been heard from them since their capture. More and more forts continue to fall as the army moves with its momentum toward the coast despite talks of peace planning to take place soon between the Empire and the Dominon.

The Dominion abandons EstivonFaced with a general uprising in all corners of their province of Estivon, as well as Imperial assistance in the form of Demonic raiding parties, the provincial governor of Estivon gives the order to abandon the interior and fall back to the coastal cities. Beseiged on all sides, the walls hold even as powerful demonic fires break out, scorching much of the interior and killing countless civilians. Manned by both provinicial levies and the Empire's non-Alfar soldiers - humans, half-elves, free elves - they stand hard and fast, holding out hope that they might be relieved by the revered Alfari veterans. They never are. They hold the walls just long enough so that the Elven veterans - as well as all Alfari residents of Estivon, including the Governor, his family, and a few notable citizens - can load up on a hidden fleet of ships, abandoning the province entirely, departing for the Ahdsurian Isles. Without aid, the local garrisons fall to the assailants, the last hold-outs falling sometime in mid-December. The reaction from the long oppressed Wild Elves is one of jubilation, as they occupy their long stolen lands, reuniting the enslaved with their families. Many of the Tym give thanks to their Imperial allies, grateful for their part in their liberation - though already differences begin to marr their relationship. In the north, citizens who survived the seige are sent north, to Sanctimonia, as refugees - but in the more Imperial - influenced southern regions, Demonic forces override the will of the locals and begin to ship thousands back to Sarkun in chains. It is not yet clear where Estivon - or Nuihadhas, as is its native name - stands in this new world, free from Ahdsurian domination. A fiercely independant people, many fear that the Empire of Sarkun seeks to overstay its welcome, and the extent of their goodwill. Already, Imperial agents aiding with the reconstruction have begun or already finished monuments and shrines to the divine figure of the Emperor Marcus Olm - an act that has some of the Wild Elves leery of their allies. Whatever comes of this, however, greater mysterious still persist in the world today. In a far cry from their normal militarism, the Ahdsurian Dominion seems to be mustering no response to the loss of their territory. Indeed, all around the world, agents of the Dominion seem to be retreating from society - while they maintain ties of trade with their other provinces, it seems that all citizens of Alfari descent are relocating to the Isles. Embassies are being left unmanned, save for their bewildered non-Alfari representatives, as the Alfari return to Ahdsur. Large numbers of troops are being relocated from Brython, where they seem to be engaging in a holding pattern surrounding the capital of Te'clis. And beyond this, there are rumors of black bag operations all over the world, wherein rogue Alfari are assassinated - or kidnapped, vanishing without a trace.

Pycheko Mobilizes Troubling reports of Pychekan advances against the Sanctimonian and Vale border reveal that many camps have been erected to house large amounts of troops along the border. Caravans carrying the banner of Imperial Trade and the Pycheko stands high in these camps and as they cross the border into Sanctimonia without much resistance or aggression. With every passing day the camps grow larger and larger to accommodate for the worlds largest military. While Imperial Trade has claimed to be neutral in times of war, some regiments inside Sanctimonia have taken up arms against local governments in the south for the slaughter of their people in provincial capitals in Sarkun and the numerous ships that have been destroyed by the Sanctimonian Navy. Nothing but threats and occasional brawls has broken out, but the situation seems to be a riot in the waiting. Trading ships between Sarkun, Pycheko, and Vinberg have also grown, likely to be caused by the war in Sarkun and the request of aid to Imperial Trade. Troops and raw materials are unloaded everyday to provide support to the war torn country.

Jungle At WarWith the retreat of the Sanctimonian forces and in the face of total species wide genocide at the hand of Marcus Olm and his underlings the Ha'dri have abandoned their sieges and spread out into the jungles. While a detachment of ha'dri females have fled with the Sanctimonians the rest, four and a half million strong continue to fight on from the jungles. If one thing is certain it's that the Ha'dri refuse to go quietly. Any human, Tiefling or non native species of Sarkun that wanders in to the jungle is attacked, killed and strung up as a warning to others. Raids and incursions onto settled lands are growing increasingly common, with the attackers resorting to suicidal attacks and death rather than live on to face capture. The attacks often happen quickly and without warning before the raiders melt back into the jungles that they have long since called home leaving any who intend to find them with little option beyond burning and destroying the very land itself in order to find them. In the face of genocide and extinction there are only two options to the Ha'dri and their home; to fight or to die.

The Great Ha'dri ExodusIn a sharp departure from their previous stalwart resolve to fight the Empire of Sarkun, not relenting until the last Ha'dri falls or the Empire itself is disbanded - the Ha'dri have seemingly abandoned their crusade, digging up roots and beginning an incredible exodus of life - just over five million Ha'dri, repesenting 90% of the surviving race, departing on a mass emigration towards the land of Sanctimonia. In further twist, it seems that the Empire which has so long fought them is content to let them leave without further death. The long train of insectoid creatures trails to the north-west, through the gap in the mountains leading into Estivon. Allowed to pass by lingering Imperial forces, the long train is greeted with surprise by the native Wild Elves - ranging from fear, to apprehension, to hospitallity, as some Wild Elves gift surplus food and other supplies to the Ha'dri. Some local leaders have used the Ha'dri as an example of the damage the Empire can have. The Ha'dri were another race, long oppressed in their own lands. As such, political tension seems to be gathering in Estivon, though nothing has yet broken out. As the first of the Ha'dri refugees arrive in Sanctimonia, local authorities strain the limits of their resources to feed the vast migratory horde. Luckily, the omnivorous Ha'dri are able to subsist on even the meagre garbage and scraps that the people can give up. The average Sanctimonian looks at the Ha'dri with a mix of awe, apprehension, and disgust - some think of them like locusts, here to devour their hard-earned society and move on. The government takes a different standpoint - knowing that the vast Ha'dri swarm can and will act as a powerful force in these dangerous days, and have taken to both feeding them and arming them with what weapons can be forged on such short notice. As of now, most of the Ha'dri horde is arranged in camps lining the border between Sanctimonia and Estivon. Eventually, food concerns will force a decision - to act and retake their homeland, or seek other alternatives.

The Empire's Invasion of SidaCelebration sweeps the entirety of the Empire through as the family of the Emperor returns to the borders of the Empire itself after being at war in Estivon and other regions sought by the Emperor. It is clear that the family is united through divine means, which has been the reason for so many victories in these war torn regions. However, the family only stays in the city's palace for a few days before taking a caravan out of the borders and back to the war front to lead the Empire and its people to victory. Without warning the Empire prepares for its attack on the deserts of Sida. Claiming to be a war on the reconquest of their homeland before being exiled, the war is launched by the Empire's Legions led by two of the brothers to the Emperor. Southern cities closest to are left in waste by the initial assault. The skies are darkened with fire as the notorious flying barges too many in count appear, spraying fire and molten iron upon the cities. The only beings that are somewhat prepared to protect the cities are the Archivists who appear from rifts and attack with tendrils of pure magic. The Emperor's family are unphased, striking out half a world away, filling the mages' minds with images of terror and pain. Barges come closer to the cities to unload their package upon the unsuspecting city: 40,000 hellknights eager to kill. The militia and other defenders are swatted aside like ants, but the slaughter does not stop. The thousands of citizens inside the city are left with nothing but pain and suffering before being killed in the most brutal of ways. Others who are not so lucky are dragged to the dunes where they are buried up to their chests in scalding sand; some have loved ones butchered or raped in front of them before being killed themselves. The most able bodied of the dead are gathered in the plaza by those unlucky enough to survive. All of this has a but one purpose: to maximize the emotional and physical suffering of the inhabitants before they die, their pain and suffering acting as delicious nectar to the demons. For days the slaughter continues, but on this day only the hand of the Emperor spares those who remain - the slaves. These slaves are relocated to other cities while other more violent types are given weapons or wield their magic freely against their former oppressors in an attempt to free other slaves or just to seek revenge. All of the volunteers are put into the ground forces of the legions and begin to march with the other forces. Fires burn long into the night and the following days as demons work day in night to strap bodies of the dead to their barges as trophies. Led by the two brother Olms, the demonic legions march toward Seljuk city itself, leaving nothing but a wake of destruction in its path. Each city on the way is consumed, burned, and discarded, adding multiple slaves to their legions while the others return with aid from the Imperial Trade supply lines.

The Sidans Mobilize
The barbaric brutality of this unprovoked invasion leaves the people of Sida reeling in shock. Patnos, set to sword and fire and much worse, cannot be saved, its tens of thousands left to merciless torture and slaughter. The city of Kirukkh, given only a few days warning, prepares for a desperate defense. By the order of the Shahrab (Regional Lord), the citizens abandon the city, fleeing into the open desert in hopes of escaping. The defenders and the Shahrab himself remaim, along with a swath of male volunteers from the local populace. They march as doomed men into battle, knowing the only hope for their loved ones is to fight to the death that the demon's bloodlust might be briefly assuaged upon them and not the innocent. As Pashtan also falls under assault, the result is much the same. But not all hope is lost. As knowledge of the atrocities spreads, outrage erupts in villages, townships, and cities across Sida. As the Sultan calls for war, the Shahrabs find themselves inundated with throngs of able bodied men, ready to give their lives to avenge the lost of their suffering. The Shahrabs of Narvik, Sargon, and the Sultan of Seljuk himself musters for war, readying tens of thousands to meet the invaders. Aided by the Archivists of Light, the Shahrabs share news with their Sultan, able to coordinate defense, organization, and plans of attack at speeds never heard of before. The Sidan world answers Seljuk's cry for war, as the Sultanates of Nasii and Torah muster their own armies to dispel the unholy invaders from the lands of their fellow Sidans. Perhaps the most hopeful news of all comes from the north, where the Shahrab of Halakh-Din proclaims his intent to lead a unified effort against the invaders. Shahrab Yasir El-Amin, the Scourge of the Sands, the Flame of the East, the greatest military mind of a generation, and long war hero against both the heathenous Talibarians and the ever encroaching northern Minotaurs, the Flame is respected almost universally. Now he rides for Seljuk from his normal post at the Talibarian border, to join his veterans with forces from Nasii and greater Seljuk. Should the Empire meet the Flame, their plans for conquest may very much be in doubt, indeed. - Spoiler:
The Flame at rest.

The Empire's Invasion of Sida IIThe Empire's Legions leave nothing untouched in their wake; towns, villages, and outposts are utterly destroyed by the invading forces if it holds no strategic resource to the Empire or its allies. Even the sands of Sida itself turns to glass as the demons march across it, a feat never before done except by the Dread Lord Sylornath himself. Though more rally to Sida's defense, even more are welcomed within the ranks of the Empire's Legions. Slaves willing and able to hold a sword or bend magic are equipped with supplies and sent to march with the demons or even ride on the barges in the skies while others are sent back to the major cities in the south for relocation. Rifts to Hell open as well, fueling the momentum of the invasion with more demons eager to fight and devour souls. Drakes, Banespawn, and other demons join the Legions as they continue their march to the city of Seljuk. Perhaps more dangerous than the actual fighting demons that come out of the portals are the plague demons, each carrying a infectious and deadly disease that always results in the deaths of those it claims before going onto its next victim. These spawn all over Sida; to the most populated cities and even to the smallest of villages, these demons spread their evil diseases in an attempt to demoralize the Sidans into surrendering to the Empire in order to spare themselves from the pain and suffering. Sidan warlords tasked with organizing and commanding over the armies of Sida have been made prime targets to the more hidden side of the war: assassination. Demons, Demoniac Guard, and the infamous being known only as the Voidhound are sent out with a long list of names to eliminate for the Empire to ease the conquering process. To the Sidans, these assassinations may look like mere accidents or just another victim to the plagues. One thing is clear, though: no one is safe from the demonic invasion unless they surrender themselves to the Empire.

The Demon Hunters stalking their prey. Victory in the DesertIn a startling turn around, Seljuk scouts mirroring the advance of the Demonic Legions have reported a stunning shift in the war - following a massive ambush targeting the northern army, both Demonic Legions have halted their advance towards the capital of Seljuk, and begun a full retreat towards the eastern coast. While the Sultans and Shahrabs of the land are hesitant to claim victory at such an early hour, the defenders of the capital breath a little easier, while throughout Sida jubilation breaks out, thanking Aten and those who took part in the ambush for delivering them. The ambush itself was a coordinated attempt between the most unlikely of allies - the Demon Hunters, the infamous, stern, venturing on fanatical arbiters of vengeance against all demon kind, including mages who summon them; and the Archivists, the oft mistrusted scholars of magic, who currently place their headquarters in the city of Narvik. Together, they struck viciously at the northern demonic horde, marshalling the legendary Gun'iib Sakneed, the Sandworms of Sida, to take vengeance upon the Demons; conjuring great storms of sand, and churning the earth into a fine mud; and pelting the demons with great displays of raw magic. At the same time, the Demon Hunters crippled the fleet of barges, sending thousands of demons spiraling to their deaths. The carnage was so prolific, the victory so complete, that there are rumors that Marcus Olm himself fought on the battlefield, and was mortally wounded by the Demon Hunter Patriarch. Whatever the case, following the strong victory, both Demonic Legions have begun a full retreat, seemingly abandoning their conquest and reforming near their initial victory at Pashtan. For all the cries of victory, however, the Archivists and Demon Hunters have not halted their counter-strike, hounding the two Demonic Legions endlessly in their retreat, conducting constant hit-and-run ambushes on the two Legions. The second Legion, reportedly, has had their barges destroyed as well, the survivors forced to fight on foot. The resounding success of their cooperation has resulted in a great change of mind concerning the Archivists, as gifts and cries of celebration surround their grounds in Narvik. The war, however, has not been kind to the people of Sida. Outbreaks of unnaturally virulent plague, left by the Empire's biological strikes, have erupted in dozens of cities; Rahna, Nasii, Torah, Narvik, Samangan, Edremit, and the city of Seljuk itself. Even with quarantine measures in effect, hundreds die weekly from the plague. With disaster looming, the Archivists have announced their efforts to research a cure. What's more, the efforts of Demoniac assassination squads have spilt noble blood all over Sida - murdering the heirs of the Sultan of Torah and the Sultan himself in Nasii. As the Demonic retreat continues, the remaining noble rulers have doubled their guard, and in both cases pledged vengeance for their death of their loved ones. The Sultan of Torah and the newly ascendant Sultan of Nasii have both pledged money, troops, and political support to the continuing war against the Empire of Sarkun. While it is clear that the darkest days have yet to pass for Sida, the people and royalty of Sida have seen complete annihilation turn its ugly head - and now steel themselves for the continuing struggle.

Peace between the Talibarian Remnant and SeljukWord has come down from Seljuk in recent days that the Flame has arrived in Narvik, where, with the help of Archivist mages, he communes with the royalty of Sida. Of particular note are the envoys from Talibar, seeking a direct audience with their old adversary. According to the official report, a peace settlement has been reached for the first time in seventy years, as both sides come to terms with the incredible destruction wrought by Marcus' armies, and the danger the world is in. None to fond of demons, demon worship, or demon summoning themselves, the Talibarians have arranged a peace settlement in return for food shipments for the displaced during the war, already on their way. While the Sidans have forbidden priests to accompany the caravans, no doubt some of the Prophet's word will be accepted by the grateful Sidans as the caravans spread their gifts. Already in the works are talks of military coordination as Sida gears itself for a counter-attack against the forces of the Empire.

- Spoiler:
Ecomomic problems begin to plague MaalikEven with their collected string of military victories, the newly born military juggernaut of the Empire of Maalik begins to fall prey to a more invisible threat, no less deadly than brandished steel - the market place. All around the Empire, due to a number of coinciding factors, prices have begun to rise, the value of gold has begun to fall, and resource shortages plague many endeavors. The most visible cause for their economic malaise comes in the form of a nearly universal trade embargo, as nations at war with the Empire completely cut off all forms of trade with both the Empire at large and their patron trading partner, Imperial Trade of Lykeregrad. Though uneasy relations have existed since April between Sanctimonia and Imperial Trade, including a brief seizure of goods and blockage of trade, a full embargo was declared in October, shortly before the formal declaration of war between Sanctimonia and the Empire. Now, Imperial Trade caravans and trade ships are not permitted at any point within Sanctimonia, leading to the loss of every single trade port along the Dragon Coast. What's more, both Sanctimonia and her client state, Vale, have engaged in an extensive trade blockade of the Draconis Inlet, seizing - or, if necessary, sinking - Imperial Trade ships departing from any number of ports in southern Occitan. With Pycheko land locked, and the nation-states of Occitan being the only nation in the north willing to allow Imperial Trade to act out of their ports, Wirfalsten acts - for now - the only truly safe port open to the Empire. As a result, resources, material, and payment going to and from Pycheko has ground to a halt, as very little is let through. The only alternative for Imperial Trade was a long land route through Sida - which now has been closed to them. When the Empire declared war upon Sida in late December, it ended both this land route - and Fadilla's portion in the lucrative Southern Sea trade. With news of the slaughter suffered in Seljuk, nearly every port - including Aekhan - has closed their ports to vessels from Imperial Trade or Fadilla. As the war lengthens, and the Sultanates steel their resolve, merchant fleets are refitted for war, to deny Imperial Trade free access on the Southern Sea. The last port that truly remains open to the Empire are the Ever-Rain Isles. In essence, Maalik has become an extremely isolated market. Many Imperial Trade vessels languish in port, knowing it would be futile to try to depart. Resource shortages begin to plague industry at home, as rare materials become scarce, and even such staples as steel run short. Forced to subside on local materials, the Empire will yet survive - but gone are the days of ample material, flowing in from distant shores. What's more, the Emperor Marcus Olm has engaged in great expenditures of wealth from his coffers, funding reconstruction efforts, public works, and an attempted reformation of Maalik's military out of Fadilla. In all, thirty five million shillings worth of gold has been introduced to the market - heralding a looming disaster. As gold floods the market in prolific amounts, the average worker is enriched - to no end. With extremely little foreign trade, gold simply circles within the closed market that is Maalik, leading to a startling and steady drop in the value of gold. With the Emperor's rule having gutted much of the merchant class, as well the turmoil causing a severe drop in industry, there is much to spend but very little to spend it -on-. Finally, and perhaps the most pressing problem, lies within the food supply. While traditionally Maalik has subsided upon grain bought from Aqil, or surplus from more distant Sida, the recent war and turmoil has led to a decrease in this year's fall harvest. With many wealthy landowners having fled, purged, or murdered by enraged, free slaves, much of the arable fields have fallen into disuse, failing at the critical time of the October harvest. What's worse, when Sanctimonia invaded in November, Adrahal of Tisuuk, vengeful lord of Aqil, spitefully burned many warehouses of grain, while the Sanctimonians torched others in their retreat. The full result is nearly a full half of the normal grain surplus was annihilated. While, for the immediate future, food remains available, already certain worrying shortages have cropped up. Estivon, the newly liberated Dominion province, yet has fertile fields which produce all year round - however, the lingering question of the ownership of Estivon remains.

Haria musters its forces
Despite largely being left out of the growing tension, the small yet exceedingly defensive nation of Haria has recently begun full-scale mobilization of its armed forces. Conceived during the Third Occitanian Civil War, Haria was founded by Kazuth freedom-fighters and given its right to exist by the merit of bloody conflict. Founded as a nation to shelter the battered and globally-persecuted Kazuth race, its leaders have never forgotten that their nation only exists because they have the steel, the fire, and the will to defend it. As such, Haria maintains a universal conscription, expecting from its citizens 3 years of mandatory military service from the ages of 17 - 21. Already giving the small nation an impressive standing military for its size, the policy further awards them hundreds of thousands of civilians familiar with the armed service, ready to be called up to full service.
In recognition of the fragile state of the world, the Harian General Assembly has elected to fully mobilize the prime reserves (Kazuth in the prime of their life), bolstering the standing army of 50,000 to 120,000. While the nation only has enough arms, armor, and gunpowder to fully equip 90,000 of that number, the rest will enter a support role, fitted with irregular arms, and commanded to act as a support militia. As for the moment, as tens of thousands of Harian civilians are pulled into service, the military simply holds position within its own territory, erecting ad hoc defenses, defending the border, keeping order and suppressing banditry, and drilling ad nauseum within interior forts. In the event of war, it is possible that even more will be called up to serve, in support or ancillary roles. While open hostilities have yet to break out with any nation, Haria maintains a positive alliance with Sanctimonia, who aided them in the Third Occitanian Civil War. As such, their ports are open to Sanctimonian fleets, aiding them in the creation of a blockade against Imperial Trade.

Occitanian Unification?
In a stunning turn of events, today the Fauerzeit Assembly in Ansbach, in closed session, has passed a piece of legislation confirming the legal unification of the Confederacy of Westerwald-Leoben, Vinberg, and Reutten. What's more, the Assembly has legally recognized the ascension of a new leader to reign over this unified nation - the young Peter Metternicht, hereby awarded the title of Kaiser. Such an act is a direct violation of the terms of the Treaty of Fauerzeit, which stated that under no terms shall a new Kaiser ever be appointed.
It is clear now that this action is the result of a many years long diplomatic undertaking between the nations of Vinberg and Leoben. Vinberg, being a principality under the sole rule of the existing Knightly Order of the Saints of Occitania (Or the 'Order of Occitan'), has had a long vested interest in the re-establishment of traditional Occitanian ways, especially the old Imperial authority of the holy Kaiser. The Duke of Leoben, as always, has sought hegemony over the existing nation-states of Occitan, seeking a new order of peace and unity for all of Occitania. In late November, the sum of both these ambitions were realized when the young Peter Metternicht, 12, the sole remaining male heir to the old Imperial dynasty, was married to Maria Elena of Wirfalsten, 17, the daughter of the reigning Duke. Thus, the royal family of Leoben is now firmly tied to the blood of the Kaiser.
The decision of the Council has attracted extreme controversy and outcry, especially from representative members from Haria, as well as more conservative members of the Council. It is rumored that Leoben troops have been stationed in the Fauerzeit district of Occitan City for weeks, directly controlling access to the Assembly halls. If this is true, then by bribe, or force, or simple loyalty, Leoben has essentially annexed Ansbach as well.
The Harian members of the Council have resigned in protest to this decision, and the Harian General Assembly has threatened open war. However, the Fauerzeit Assembly has issued three declarations on behalf of the newly unified nation. The first is the 'General Recognization of the rights of Kazuth-kind', which effectively outlaws all forms of discrimination against Kazuth within the newly unified nation, opening all forms of employment save that of Knighthood within the Order of Occitan to Kazuth. Furthermore, it exhaustively details a list of 'Crimes committed against Kazuth-kind', promising to pay 'grievances owed by the holy office of the Kaiser to the Kazuth people' in the form of 12 million shillings over the course of thirty years, to begin payments within ten years. The second is 'A General offer of Friendship and Allegiance to the nation of Haria', offering to not only fully recognize Haria as a legitimate nation but to enter into a military alliance, 'to prosecute all future wars as one'. As the third, they have offered the same to Sanctimonia, wherein the proclamation states, 'Whatever past animosities between the people of Occitan and Sanctimonia, we must, together, recognize the universal danger presented by the foul hordes of the war-mongerer Marcus Olm, and his allies, the Pychekans.' Whether these overtures will serve their purpose is unknown. It is rumored, however, that the Sanctimonians have no desire to begin another war, and are pressuring the Kazuth to accept the Assembly's proclamations for the moment.
Whether or not these overtures will succeed in staying war, the newly formed nation - now calling itself 'the Occitanian Confederation' - seems to have taken extensive steps already to fully mobilize and merge their armies, with the Knights of Occitania entering open service alongside the armies of Westerwald-Leoben. With the proclamation of unification, they have begun a swift and sudden expansion into the lands of Weissebode, claiming that the need exists to fully fortify the whole of Occitan from the treacherous east, looking to reinhabit and fully staff the old chain of fortresses along the eastern border. With the Knights of Occitan leading the way, it seems that they have encountered little resistence from the militarily weak nation, with soldiers lowering their arms and joining in support of the cause of the Kaiser. As of yet, it seems that nearly 80,000 troops have entered the primarily agricultural nation, with rumors that the capital of Weissebode itself, Klarenfurt, is being occupied to oversee a formal alliance with the Confederacy - or an annexation. As it remains, 20,000 Knights have entered Weissebode, joined by 60,000 soldiers of Leoben, while a further 60,000 remains behind in Leoben, awaiting to see the results of the Fauerzeit proclamations.

Devastating attack on New Imperia
On the 25th of December, the same day as the Empire of Sarkun's unrestricted use of chemical and biological weapons upon the nation of Sanctimonia, the City of New Imperia suffered an unexpected and bloody attack. In the middle of the night, a Sharic infilitrator, now known to be wanted criminal Vorn Tyrr, slipped by unknown means into the Forbidden District of New Imperia. Locked away by divine magics only truly known to the Knights Concordic and the royalty themselves, the Forbidden District is the last remnant of Old Imperia, still scarred by the brutality of the Void Nights. Within the confines of the Forbidden District, the soil itself is corrupted, full of toxins which forbids the proliferation of all life. The air is poisonous, plague bearing creatures roam the ruins, and abominable parasites collect mummified flesh and bones to craft into nightmarish hosts. For 200 years the evil of these ruins has been sealed away by a divine barrier, allowing the city of New Imperia to safely build itself around it, forming a testament to the will of the people to recover and persist. On December the 25th, however, old evils were revisited.
Without warning, the barrier dropped, and immediately tens of thousands of abominations began to flood into the city. The contingent of Knights Concordic and elite Watchmen charged with guarding the one entrance to the ruins were immediately engaged, suffering heavy casualties even as the horde was allowed to press into the city itself. Hundreds of civilians were dragged from their homes by the horrors, and devoured in the streets, while thousands more fled the carnage. Though the City Watch was called into action, it was not they nor the Knights that managed to put a stop to the rampage. Instead, it was a force of nearly 25,000 demons - known in the vernacular as 'Banespawn' - who managed to mitigate the unchecked slaughter. Instead of joining in the butchering of civilians themselves, they deployed into the city and began to push back the tide, carving a bloody swath until a firm line was established. These demons even aided in the establishment of two safe zones for refugees - the Royal Palace, which the King opened up to civilian use, and a Meeting Hall in market district. While the panicking civilians met the demons with initial fear and apprehension, it was soon discerned that these dark warriors were not here to prey upon the weak but to defend them. "They are the Redeemed," many have said. "The Redeemed has returned."
The worst of the fighting was finally ended when, to the awe of all, an Angelic Host - the survey of Ananiel, the Archangel of Purity - appeared, and annihilated a vast swath of the abominations, before vanishing to parts unknown. The fighting, however, continued well on until noon of the 26th, as the Demonic forces began to push into the Forbidden District with the aid of a far larger Angelic Host - 40,000 Angels and 4 Archangels - intent on annihilating every speck of corruption within the ruins, and putting an end to the threat they posed for good. The arrival of the holy warriors was met with mass prayer vigils which filled the Churches and spilled out onto the streets, held in support for those who had been lost and have lost, and in thanks for the destruction of the wicked. King Deleric II himself appeared with his wife, her Majesty the Queen, in the Cathedral of the Blessed Order, or 'Baruch Seder'. It has been reported that the Crown Prince was gravely injured during the fighting.
For all its devastation, the attack could have been much worse. By divine hand, the toxins of the District were held back, and the rampage was pushed back by the united hand of demons and Angels. In the end, nearly 150 Knights, 1,700 Watch, and 4,600 civilians were killed in the fighting. Near the end of the 26th, the King spoke before the assembled crowd in the Cathedral of the Blessed Order.
"The price of victory and the cost to do that which is right are often the same; the blood of the innocent. But that is what has been won here today - not only a victory, but a RIGHTEOUS victory. The story of our nation, united and strong, has been a tale of a people, devoted to the protection of the weak, the search for truth, and the growth of happiness and health. That dream has not ended, my dear people! I know in my heart, beyond all doubt, that we will press on, beyond the current calamity, and press on into victory, truth, and righteousness - I know it. As ever before, 'The Hero, born of Woman, shall crush the Serpent with his Heel.' Press onward, my dear people - though tragedy may engulf us, we do not fight alone. Our Lord, our watchful guide, our promise in Heaven, He stands alongside us. It is his sword we grip, not our own. And his sword is terrible and swift, indeed."

The Battle of Surna
The day of December the 25th, 791, will be forever after remembered as a day of the grimest tragedy - and the greatest of victories. Hours before the attack on New Imperia, an army of Shades and co-opted Dver constructs attacked the city of Surna on the order of Sharite Vorn Tyrr. The unnatural army quickly managed to overwhelm the exterior defenses of the city and initiate a siege. Thus the battle continued on for hours - protracted skirmishes, wherein one side would make a foray in or out of the city. Initial attempts by the Sharite force were met with failure, but at a heavy cost of life. Similiarly, an attempt led by Premier of the Knights Concordic to break through the enemy forces and strike from the rear met with failure. Both sides fought inconclusively until near midnight.
It was then that a small force of Banespawn, including the 'Redeemed' himself Thorn Razel, arrived with a single member of the Oculus Infinitum, John Culper, and two recently appointed members of the Knights Errant - Elizabeth Celanduil and Aedelric Adahn-Wildercress - fresh from the battle of Imperia. Free to move thanks to their floating Barge, an unearthly example of demonic artiface, the group moved quickly and apparantly managed to rally a local goblin tribe to their cause, as well as a contingent of 2,500 Dver infantry and a fleet of 5,000 flying attack platforms. Together, they moved to attack the hiding place of Vorn Tyrr, who had hidden away within an abandoned mining complex, evidentally in his search for ancient Dver artifacts.
The battle was quickly joined by two incredible divine events. First, a portal opened in the sky, allowing thousands of demonic 'Morlu' upon the field - suspected to be an act perpetuated by Marcus Olm, Emperor of Sarkun - and in response, a second portal opened in the sky, only for a direct manifestation of the God, Tyr - an Avatar - to appear, annihilating nearly all of the present Morlu. It was not long after that the siege was relieved, as all of the constructs inexplicably deactivated, and the Shades were driven off by the light of Tyr.
It was afterwards determined that the small party - Thorn Razel, a goblin named Suile Glan, and the two Knights Elizabeth Celanduil and Aedelric Adahn-Wildercress - managed to penetrate Vorn Tyrr's enclave and kill the Sharite, ending his plot. It seems evident that Tyrr was in the works of a terrible plot centered upon a piece of Dver arcana, which would have resulted in the annihilation of the entire human race.
The goblins, the Dver, and the 'heroes' of the day were met in Surna with not a small bit of jubilation. In many ways, this can be seen as a victory for those who have long wished for the goblin and human communities in Surna to live in peace.
The Dver have promised to help regional forces stabilize Surna and her environs before departing. The appearance of the Dver speaks to an overall increase in friendly relations between Karak Zigil and Sanctimonia.
Altogether, 400 Goblins, 35 Dver, 230 Watch, 600 Soldiers, and 12 Concordic Knights were lost in the Battle of Surna.

Sanctimonia and Sida overcomes the Plague
The initial impact of the joint biological / chemical attack upon Sanctimonia was devastating, with heavy outbreaks of plague in such major cities as Verde, Velmont, Exemplar, Siga, Felix, and lesser outbreaks in Aberdie, Loic, Finree, Galloway, Waterbrooks, Soldat, Judicael, Timaza, and Linnadal, and corresponding releases of toxic chemical gas. Within hours, local hospitals and Houses of Illmatyr were overwhelmed, by no means able to deal with the influx of injured and infected. By some reports, almost 140,000 people were either infected with the plague or injured by gas. The reports were even higher among the Ha'dri, who were heavily hit by plague demons and demons spewing toxic gas, with the packed camps illiciting almost 200,000 Ha'dri injured. Luckily, however, the impressive disease resistance of the Ha'dri, who are omnivores not above consuming refuse other races would consider trash, almost entirely negated the effect of the plagues released upon them.
Within hours, however, the prayers of many were answered with the coming of Ananiel's Host, whom spread out throughout the afflicted cities in order to treat the many in need. Later in the day, they were joined by 4 full additional hosts, whom moved throughout the entire nation, treating injuries and infections with knowledge granted by the perpetrator of the suffering himself - Emperor Marcus Olm. (See below, 'Treaty of Atiya'.)
This divine help has within two days reduced what should have been one of the greatest disasters in Sanctimonian history to simply another tragedy - but one far less destructive than it should have been. Of the 80,000 stricken by the Plague in the first day, only a few hundred died, with an overwhelming majority cured before the plague could turn deadly. The greatest number of casualties came from the toxic gasses - with 25,000 killed before they could even be saved, and 40,000 Ha'dri killed. Even then, however, the 55,000 humans and 160,000 Ha'dri injured were treated within hours or days of their injury, facilitating a full recovery.
Already the Angelic Hosts have spread to Sida with their knowledge of how to treat the disease, in a nation that has suffered two weeks of unrestricted plague and 80,000 casualties in this time. With far more time to spread, it is likely that the plague in Sida will take a good deal longer to eliminate entirely.
In Sanctimonia, meanwhile, mass demonstrations of anger and nationalism have spilled out into every city save New Imperia, rallies calling for vengeance against the Empire. Enlistment in the military has spiked sharply, with a further 30,000 men and women flooding to join the Sanctimonian military in a mix of rage and patriotic fervor; it is unknown, as of yet, whether the Sanctimonian military-industrial complex will be able to cope adequately to equip this influx of numbers. Along the Dragon Coast, Gaerds who had previously been neutral to the Empire of Sarkun have suddenly unleashed an outpouring of anger as well as religious faith, the 'new faith' of 'Tyor' spiking sharply in converts. Amongst this, the Ha'dri horde currently camped in the lower heartlands have begun a sudden surge towards the Estivon border. Already, some support in northern Estivon has erupted for the Ha'dri - 'Let them pass,' they say, 'Let the Ha'dri reclaim their homeland as we have done.'
Despite the successful treatment of the plagues, it seems that the world is as unstable as ever in the aftermath. The plagues unleashed by the Empire of Sarkun have already obtained an insidious and dark name in the minds of the world, lumping them together as a single plague - The Plague of the Emperor.

Suicide attack upon Kirkston
Amidst the chaos and death of the the 25th, a smaller attack perpetuated by the Empire goes unnoticed by many, but not the citizens of Kirkston. Arriving through unknown means in the middle of the night, a trio of arcane, floating Barges appeared outside the city walls. They did not, however, attack; instead, whatever beings were onboard drove their vessels into a perilous, suicidal dive towards several landmarks in the city, including the local Cathedral, Town Hall, and Watch Barracks. Upon impact, these Barges were seen to erupt into a burning inferno of explosive power, having evidentally been packed to the brim with black powder. Some report to have heard those on board screaming prayers to the Emperor of Sarkun as they hurtled downward. Luckily, however, the Church was nearly empty, and the Town Hall full of only a few unfortunate bureaucrats working late into the night. In the end, only a few dozen were outright killed, with several hundred Watchmen wounded moderately to severe. The ensuing fires were quickly put out, but not before the Church and Town Hall had been completely burned.
The citizens of Kirkston both count themselves lucky to not have been amongst those targeted by the plague and gas demons, and mourn their own private tragedy as they move to rebuild these important buildings.

The Treaty of Atiya
On the 3rd of January, King Deleric II of Sanctimonia was reported to have left the city of New Imperia for his country estate near Sarnae, where, to the surprise of many, he met with a delegation from the Empire of Sarkun. In attendance, by official report, was also the Avatar of Tyr himself. Days later, on the 7th, an official Royal decree was issued in every major city in Sanctimonia - detailing a document known as the 'Treaty of Atiya'.
Unknown to many is the knowledge that on the night of December the 25th, an Angelic Host 40,000 strong set out for the Empire of Sarkun, intent on administering vengeance for those lost in the plagues by completely annihilating the Vampiric city of Atiya. By the time they arrived, however, Marcus Olm had gathered a sizable force of demons, including Archfiends, in defense of the city. According to the decree, the Archangel Chamuel himself issued the judgement of the land, and Lord Tyr's final offer to avoid total, unrestricted warfare upon the Empire's people. Surprisingly, Olm agreed, and the discussion there is what eventually spawned the 'Treaty of Atiya.'
Among many other things, the Treaty establishes a conditional six month ceasefire between the lands of the Kingdom of Sanctimonia and the Empire of Sarkun. Despite attempts to soften the blow, the Royal Decree was met with heavy opposition, with a number of protests all throughout Sanctimonia against the concept of appeasing the Empire of Sarkun. On the 10th, the Royalty issued a second decree, in an attempt to explain the treaty.
"By no means through this treaty do I, as your King, nor we, as the government of the Kingdom, mean to say that the violent and death-loving Empire of Sarkun is beyond justice, or that they are justified in the crimes they commit. As always, the Kingdom of Sanctimonia is commited to the defense of its allies, the prosecution of justice, and the search for a safer society. If the time comes for full war against the Empire and its allies, I promise both you, my citizens, and the people of the world - and that includes Emperor Olm - that the Kingdom will not rest, not tire, nor fail to commit every resource and mind at our disposal towards total victory, and the prosecution of justice. The hope of this Treaty - as is the hope of our Lord, Tyr - is that justice may be served by peace, understanding, and concessions, a blood-price in return for the crimes perpetuated by the Empire - instead of war, which is always and infinitely more costly than peace. While there can be peace, I hope for peace - but do not mistake my intent. If it must come to war, we shall wage the most furious of wars."
Details of the Treaty
- Spoiler:
1. The Empire must cease the use of plagues and toxins upon civilian and military populations, and never resume. Doing so will result in the full repeal of the treaty, and constitute an open policy of attack where Tyr and his Angelic Hosts are concerned upon any and all aspects of the Empire, including civilian infrastructure and civilians themselves.
2. The Empire will impart information concerning the composition of all plagues and toxins used thus far against all peoples, to facilitate the treatment of the sick and injured among all parties.
3. The Empire will hand over all civilian POWs as soon as possible, allowing them safe passage and providing them as necessary to conduct a safe journey out of the Empire's bounds, where they will then be allowed to relocate as they see fit, save for the land of Estivon, as it is a currently destabilized region in close proximity to both parties. Border forces (i.e. Guard, Imperial Intelligence, local levies, and so forth) will be allowed to remain in place but under no circumstances be allowed to intefere with the crossing of prisoners. Civilians who wish to resettle within the Empire instead are permitted to do so, save the land of Estivon, which constitutes an unsafe and unstable region on the borders between Sanctimonia and Sarkun.
4. Sanctimonia will allow the same of all currently imprisoned Imperial nationals and Imperial Trade employees, and will provide safe passage to Maalik or Pycheko. However, Imperial Nationals and Imperial Trade employees will not be allowed to stay within or relocate within the borders of Sanctimonia.
5. Those of the Concordic faith, relocated from Ever-Rain, or currently being persecuted against and not allowed to practice their faith, will be relocated to a special semi-autonomous region within the Republic of Yul-Ta; or, in cases which would inflict severe financial harm, or would strain the ability of the Yul-Ta to feed and house, these citizens will be allowed to remain where they live (I.E., remaining citizens in Ever-Rain) to constitute a special semi-autonomous region in and of themselves. The well-being of these peoples shall be the joint responsibility of the Empire and Sanctimonia so long as the Treaty remains in full effect. This will be taken as a sign of goodwill that will be returned by Sanctimonia through the pursuance of an international summit of nations, to continue negotiations and diplomacy.
6. Both the lands of the Empire and the Kingdom of Sanctimonia will agree to an enforced Ceasefire for a duration of exactly six months. Warfare committed by either side against the other during this time will constitute a full repeal of the terms of the Treaty. Hostile action by the Empire against the Sultans of Sida; or by the Kingdom against Pycheko, shall be considered a repeal of the Treaty. In the event of an attack by either side upon the parties of this Treaty, a defensive war may be allowed; but in either case, may represent the repeal of the Ceasefire portion of the Treaty.
7. In the specific case of the battle of Surna, and in general all of Sanctimonia, all Imperial Military combatants (demons, soldiers, Illefaernians, and so on) must leave immediately or suffer the full repeal of the Treaty.
8. The Sanctimonian blockade will end, but the internal embargo of Imperial goods and business with Imperial Trade will continue.

The Ha'dri avert their course
On the 16th of January, the massive horde of Ha'dri - numbering 5 million strong, and spread out over several miles - suddenly averted their inexorable march towards the borders of Estivon, turning away - for the moment - from the path of war. Such a sudden change of mind has been linked by some - and officially recognized soon after - to a recent invitation and subsequent meeting between the King of Sanctimonia and a plethora of Ha'dri elders. What exactly was discussed on that day, January the 13th, is as of yet unknown, as the royalty has been extremely tight lipped about the details. The Ha'dri aren't telling, either - the Elders having only informed their top lieutenants and nobody else. Whatever was discussed that day, the Ha'dri have begun to turn around - marching back to their former grounds miles south of New Imperia.

The City of Aontacht (Minus Harbor + Water)
The Birth of Ndeora
From the 18th to the 21st of January, the King once agains hosted a collection of envoys at his estate in the Sanctimonian countryside - this time, a collection of goblins from the as of yet unrecognized Goblin nation of Ndeora. What they discussed was nothing less than a sharp reversal of the royalty's former policy concerning the oft-considered illegitimate state of Ndeora. Nearly twenty years ago, in 773, a large goblin uprising occured in the eastern reaches of southern Sanctimonia. More than a dozen disparate clans united in retaliation to the Lesser Heartlands Crafts Guild's policy of extermination in the area, throwing Guild mercenaries and employees off lands claimed by the tribes. In retaliation, a massive force of sell-swords and mercenaries were employed with the intention of putting down the rebellion. Instead, this army was crushed and sent fleeing. Though King Clovis, King Deleric's father, mustered the military in response to fears of a goblin invasion, no invasion was forthcoming. Chastising the Lesser Heartlands Guild for their policies, the King forbade them from seeking claim of this evidentally hostile soil - and so, Deleric II inherited the situation as Clovis left it - unresolved. For twenty years, Ndeora has existed in a legal grey area, with no formal recognition yet no state of revolt or war existing between Ndeora and Sanctimonia.
Now, however, it seems the two parties have finally come to terms. Using his position as a King at war to do something that most would have considered impossible to do in peace, King Deleric II has signed into law legislation officially recognizing the goblin state of Ndeora as an official, legitimate state in client to the Kingdom of Sanctimonia. Of the many conditions and stipulations, Ndeora is now protected and recognized by the Kingdom of Sanctimonia, and its people safe from extralegal attempts at persecution. The self-determined laws of Ndeora now are legitimized, held up by Sanctimonian courts. While the agreement calls for a referendum in ten years time concerning the full independence of Ndeora, for now it seems that two parties that had before been at blows are now at peace.
Terms
- Spoiler:
1. The nation of Ndeora will be recognized as a legitimate nation, with its own local right to govern and exist free from persecution.
2. The nation itself will be considered a client state to the Kingdom of Sanctimonia, with the King holding primacy in rank over any head of state Ndeora chooses.
3. Ndeora will be entitled to its own style of governance, the right to levy taxes, and of their own laws within their lands.
4. Citizens of Ndeora will be considered citizens of Sanctimonia.
5. If a human commits a crime upon Ndeoran soil, he will be accounted by the laws of Ndeora. If a goblin commits a crime in Sanctimonia, he will be accounted by Sanctimonia's laws.
6. Ndeora will be required to provide levy troops per the demand of the King, with possibility of appeal.
7. Ndeora will be allowed to maintain its own law and peacekeeping force, parallel to the Sanctimonian watch.
8. Sharites, Demon Summoners, Demon Worshippers, and the Cult of the Emperor and other dangerous heretics are not permitted within Ndeora - in this case, the laws of Sanctimonia apply over Ndeora's. Otherwise, religious freedom is implicit.
9. Ndeora must comply with tax demands equivilent to other regions of Sanctimonia or as the King sees fit, with possibility of appeal. Trade regulations, however, will fall under Ndeora's authority, including inter-national tariffs and intranational tariffs between Sanctimonia and Ndeora.
10. The King holds the right to form a commission to review Ndeoran taxes and tariffs if it is harming the economy of the rest of the nation.
11. Ndeora is considered an ally for the duration of the client statehood, and will be defended to the best of the King's ability, using all the men and arms at Sanctimonia's disposal.
12. Within ten (10) years, a referendum will be held with the aid of the Kingdom to determine the status of independance from or continued unity with the Kingdom of Sanctimonia.
