“Rules are fun things, rules are great things! Rules are fantastic, because without them, we wouldn’t have something to work against. I mean, what good is life, cut and dry? It’s in the blurry dance that we find what makes us truly happy. The conservative, the honorable, the charitable, and those who avoid lying are the greatest liars, for they manage to lie to themselves.”

Malcolm Argentus is a charming young man, with sharp features and smooth skin that adds allure to his blue-eyed smile. Standing at roughly five feet and nine inches tall, with a well sculpted shape of moderate physique, alongside shoulders that take well to a jacket; this results in a pristine looking appearance that adds both a professionalism, and a pleasantry to his general appearance. Malcolm walks with a well placed step, and seems to have a very good placement of footing, which will attribute to notable skill in dancing if one ever got the chance to witness it; however, moreover, it is put to use and honing in sleuthy pursuits in which his non-encumbering form and smaller stature allow him ease of movement and ease of stealth. Malcolm’s face appears to be utterly hairless and devoid of blemish, with fair eyelashes and golden blonde hair that nearly touches his shoulders. Within his gaze are two well set blue eyes, shining between the white and black with notable hue. Malcolm’s skin is a fair complexion, with an understandable amount of tan, but not quite descending into dusky shade. Similarly, the skin and hair of Malcolm is well treated and almost always pristine, minus perhaps a touch of bedhead, or similar ailments. When Malcolm speaks, his voice is generally soft, composed, and with compassion and care put into it; however, when he snaps with his demeanor changed, he is nearly snarling, with a sort of rasp taking his tongue, along with a slur based on the rushing of words.
Skillset:
Education and Intelligence – Overview [Average]: Malcolm Argentus was born to a simple family, with meager means enough to provide him the ability to read and write; from this, and his various dealings, he was able to set out and produce a living for himself in the ways he found best to do so. Malcolm is not overly blessed in mental faculties, but does well for himself with his par level of reasoning.
Wisdom and Magical Affinity – Overview [Poor]: Malcolm has little in the way of caring for the nature of the soul, or priestly duties; his life is focused on the present, on his vices, and upon his pride. Malcolm savors his life and learns his lessons, picking up some knowing along his way, but refuses to enlighten himself beyond the scheme of his own jovial acts, and similarly, is totally inept with the ways of magic.
Physical Survivability/Combat Ability – Overview [Average]: Malcolm has more than once had to let words fail and let blows answer the call of his goals, and has shown that he is able to do such without shame nor guilt. Malcolm is a vicious fighter, not afraid to do whatever it takes to slate his foe and deal him death; similarly, Malcolm is a rogue, and will seek to exploit his opponent in any way shape and form before battle. Malcolm’s fighting skills are reigned primarily by light rapier-like blades, and perhaps an offhand knife, when unable to partake in a favorite sport of his: gunplay.
Cunning and Guile – Overview [Adept]: Malcolm has always used every single ploy possible to influence any possible moment of pivotal chance in his favor, with unflinching tenacity and brutality. Malcolm practiced his calligraphy through forgery. Malcolm learned his speechcraft through lying and observing the focal functions of deceit. Malcolm learned his footing through sneaking, skulking, and running. Similarly, Malcolm learned how to fight from mugging, ambushing, and cornering his opponents.
Survival Ability – Overview [Poor/Average]: Malcolm has never had to spend more than a few weeks, perhaps a month at most, outside of civilization, even if that civilization was a simple hamlet. Malcolm can handle himself well in the outdoors, but doesn’t have the knowhow or the experience, to survive on his own in them.
Combat Archetypes, Stratagems, and Acumen:
-Combat Fundamentals: Malcolm typically doesn’t use combat as a first resort, however, when it presents itself as the greatest opportunity, he is not hesitant to draw into the dance of death. Malcolm’s experience in fighting goes back a fair span of time, easily eight years, when some unfortunate sod crossed his revelry, or was able to advance it. Malcolm’s combat abilities have a solid building from light instruction from those learned within his home city, and later the Wargs, whom taught him the aspects of using a light blade and offhand knife. His usage of the knife was similarly improved by his time observing and or participating in knife fights, and using concealed arms.

-Weapon Specializations - Detailed:
Spoiler:
General: Thin Longblade and Shortblade – Wielding one large swift blade in one hand, and a short weapon in the other, Malcolm takes life and death into his hands. The larger blade being poised forward from a horse stance, and the shorter kept back, Malcolm is able to keep an item of offensive to both strikes at an opponent, and cover his bases. The larger blade is used to swiftly strike at an opponent, and keep proper distance, while the smaller item can be used to defend, and engage an unexpecting foe with a critical strike, or strike when the distance has been closed. Malcolm moves swiftly, being unencumbered by gear or armor, and having practiced footwork from his sleuthing. Malcolm is also ruthless, and will not hesitate to draw in any unsportsmanlike attack to overwhelm his opponents.
Firearms: General – Though uncommon, complicated, and expensive to even look at, Malcolm has had his trists through life, and managed to acquire within himself an understanding of operating a wheellock firing mechanism to some degree. Having grown from a matchlock, it was the wheellock that truly kept his attention, being able to be implemented into roguery with a sudden pull of the trigger. He has been allotted some time to practice through means explainable by his past, and his actions. As usual, Malcolm shows preference with the pistol and the arms that can be best used to skew the opponent, such as slim, or undersized pistols useful in close range. However, Malcolm is able to use a rifle in addition to a pistol with some degree of accuracy. Malcolm also has proficiency with Matchlock firearms for open combat where reloading counts, or a stand-in for a wheellock.
Knife Fighting: Having spent a great deal of time in the seedy areas of cities and towns, as well as bad crowds, it’s perhaps not too surprising that Malcolm knows how to use a knife. While knife fighting can easily end up being a test of strength, Malcolm uses his fighting skills, light conditioning, and roguery to turn the tide of fights. Malcolm seems to fight at a quick pace with a sword, relying on swifter, sudden attacks to strike at his foes in a flash. While perhaps not the best way to counter foes of greater physique than he is, he works to overwhelm and defeat them in quick a fashion as possible. Similarly, he is skilled with an ability to use his strikes to disable his opponent, and or throw them off balance and or synch. Also, time spent around the usage of knives has also helped Malcolm learn how to throw them.
-Notable Stratagems and Techniques
Spoiler:
Sneaking: In addition to his natural affinity for losing the attention of others, Malcolm also has both the knowledge and a great deal of practice in remaining undetected. He knows how to keep noise to a minimum through footwork, landing, attire, and placement of self. Similarly, he is keen to where people will look in haste; where they will, and where they will not, notice something amiss.
Dexterity and Free Running: Malcolm's athletic healthiness may have lessened slightly with his use of stimulants, but he has not enough to be considered slow or weak-lunged. He retains his ability to move quickly, and doing so for an above average amount of time; in addition to knowing how to handle obstacles that he might encounter, and how to scale moderate inconveniences. Such obstructions would include wagons, walls whose summits can be grasped by his hands, heavy inclines, shimmy ledges, as well as suspended narrow walkways.
Rage and Stimulant Frenzy: Malcolm Argentus has a particular love for stimulants that bestow pleasure unto his senses, and similarly in giving pleasure do these agents remove inhibitions and pains from Malcolm’s system. Malcolm has learned how to use this in combat, using potions for intended and unintended reasons as to bestow upon him a greater advantage in the field and in battle. This effect can bolster with his own anger, revealing itself in his brutal mean streak, where he can whip himself into a rage where subtle swordwork and sleuthing is replaced with savage ambushing and brutish strikes. Due to Argentus’s frequency in potion use, he also has somewhat of a tolerance to them.
Dirty Fighting and Beastial Pathology: A hunter knows the mind of pray, and so Argentus knows the instinctual actions of animals, including those of men who run purely on instinct and reaction, exploiting and condemning them for it. Malcolm manipulates the minds of his enemies, softening them for his actions thereof. Malcolm Argentus is also able to differentiate between the necessity of victory and the necessity of honor; the latter being a… lesser …thought, Malcolm is unafraid to use any possible angle he can to assure victory. During this time, Malcolm uses the business to sell information, and serve as a storehouse for the black market in Leyanara. -Malcolm comes into money with this business, and his level of revelry rises greatly. Ascending from women, alcohol, fine dining, and partying, now to include ilicit drugs, potions, gambling, and other such vices. -One day, with his master’s release imminent in the next few days, a strange man appears in Malcolm’s building under the guise of business, but comments on the prodigy of the boy’s business, for someone under the age of twenty. -Malcolm asks whom the man is, and the man replies that he’s a customer, but has something to offer Malcolm at this turn, with Malcolm’s business soon to return to his master. -The man offers Malcolm a new job, if he’s willing to shift the contents of his current stows to a deigned location by the man where his associates will claim it. -Malcolm agrees to this, but on route, he finds the way beset by guards whom will surely confiscate his material and arrest him if he’s found with it upon his person. At which point, Malcolm slashes himself a few times with the knife, tosses himself into a few walls, and throws some stones, before crying out murder. -He puts on a believable show for the guard, whom run in the direction people say they heard running, at which point, Malcolm stumbles off, the guards none the wiser, and makes the drop. -The agent awaits Malcolm, and states his surprise at the boy’s ability to perform. The man introduces himself as an agent of the Warg faction, a group of rogues bent on subterfuge and roguery to make a name and living in life. Malcolm is offered a place in their members, and gladly accepts. -Malcolm spends half a decade honing his skills, and working on contract for the Wargs in various areas throughout Sanctimonia, before finding himself arriving in Surna.
Gilded Lightning – Named for its use, this item is a deadly, short barreled wheellock pistol used by Malcolm to deal with his enemies in orderly fashion. With the nature of the wheellock pistol, it suits his roguery perfectly, allowing him to get close with a concealed weapon, and deal death swiftly with the press of a trigger when the weapon is primed. Of course, wheellocks take longer to reload than any other pistol available, however, he finds that a single bullet is very effective when used as such. The only improvement possible being a matching twin. How he obtained this pistol is something that very few may get to hear.
Spoiler:
As seen in his character picture.
Bloody Thunder – Named also for its use, Malcolm uses this Matchlock pistol for when combat begins and is issued in open form. Easier to reload than his wheellock, and quick enough to fire despite the matchlock effort and the notable wear on this particular model; Malcolm has found he has been able to use this weapon well, treachery or in the open.
Spoiler:
The Anemone and the Black Lotus – A simple steel rapier named for the dying hope given to his opponents when drawn, and the black vyrium dagger that he wields in his offhand. A fair combination for one of Malcolm’s ability, either weapon alone is a good defensive means, and the two together is more so.
Spoiler:
The dagger should be black, and a bit rough, and I don’t think they are somewhat scaled to fit in the image.
Travelling Gentleman’s Leather Jacket. Giving others the perspective that Malcolm is as he says he is, he dresses the part as well as he acts. The jacket that he wears is well maintained, and in good styling for those of a polite, gentlemanly sort. One might suspect that Malcolm’s acquiring of this item might be just as ironic as his wearing it. Similarly, the leather of the jacket is somewhat protective, for clothing, anyways.
Travelling Gentleman’s Clothing Similar to his jacket, the remainder of Malcolm’s clothing reflects his outward persona..
Buckled Satchel: A fair sized satchel sealed by a tightly done buckle.
