Military History - Spoiler:
The Vale army was formed after the country was founded. The small militia needed time to form a professional army but didn't have the resources, so they needed to get the weapons and ammunition by trade. After a few years of constant trade with Pycheko and Sanctimonia, they had enough resources to begin forming a true army. After ships were built for the Navy, Vale made small merchant fleets to protect trade ships. They mass produced muskets and pistols, along with enough musket balls to distribute among the army, but Uniforms still needed to be made. Vale decided to not spend time dying the uniforms, so they only used the plain coats. Vale has stayed a very defensive army, attempting to avoid conflict altogether, but still fighting if necessary. Because of the Vale Armies being formed by trade, horses are limited in numbers, so most troops are infantry soldiers. At this point in time the Vale Army an army of 20,000 soldiers, 750 mortars, and 125 ships.

Strategy - Spoiler:
The Vale Armies fight in line formations, relying on overwhelming their enemies before they suffer heavy casualties. The Vale Armies fight in large groups in an attempt to rush and slaughter enemies, and use mortars to soften the enemy formations before infantry arrives. When at sea, The Vale army forms a blockade and sends barrages of cannon shots to enemies when they get close. To make this strategy effective, Vale ships are built long and tall so they can be equipped with many cannons. Because most Vale ships are so large, they are slow moving which makes them very effective when defensive.

| Fixed that for you. You put a [code] command thing where it didn't need to be. It screwed everything else up.
Anyway, uh, army of Vale. Technically Vale showing up as an independent nation on the map was a mistake, but we've rolled with it. As the lore stands now, Vale is actually a client state of Sanctimonia. You got it right when you put that Vale was formed by trade - though it has a history going far longer than it's current incarnation, Vale is allowed to be in it's strange client-Duchy-state because of lucrative trade with Pycheko and Occitan. Trade and mercantile laws are relaxed in Vale.
Anyway, if you want to develop this further, I can get you in touch with Thorogood, who is basically all things Vale.

| While organization of the topic could seriously be improved... I see this as a valid suggestion, and with the approval of the Vale lorewriter, I see this as a solid enough suggestion, which has gained my approval.
Be a little more careful with the BBC though, and as well, the EDIT button is your friend. Look at Aedelric's bio, and the Metallurgy page, and all the crazy edits I've done on both to keep it up to date and accurate. | |

| If Thoro says it's good. Maybe do a Vale location if you have the time just to put this thread somewhere appropriate. | |

| I couldn't actually figure out a place to throw this back when it was approved, still applies. Perhaps under regions?

| Well, since Vale is a Client-State of Sanctimonia, maybe- nah that would be confusing, having a Vale thing under Sanctimonia. | |

| I'll just toss it under Sanctimonia anyways since when you get down to it the Vale military answers to the Crown and Tyr at the end of the day. | |
