In preparing for this forum RP, we've hit a very strange bump, one that feels unique to the idea of marrying a post-based forum rp to a real-time server rp. In order to keep both sync'd with each other, we have developed a simple set of rules. You should all be aware of this concept and these rules before you start to post, or you may be somewhat confused along the way.
Synchronicity RulesThe forum week is a literal week of time in the real world, but an abstract 'week' in quantity in-character. The concept is that the roleplayers can perform a few day's worth of actions in their roleplay in a realworld week, or however much they manage, but after one real week has passed, the characters are assumed to have been acting for an entire week. The moments between the RP thus far and the coming week are filled with background events, maintenance, sleep, maybe minor shopping and rest, other things that may not be interesting or pertain to the roleplay, including tedious travel. At the start of this new Forum week, the time in a forum RP and the time on the server RP are once again assumed to be the same.
After each week, one of the administrators will prepare a synopsis post to summarize everything that's happened, major and minor events included, and everything that's going to happen. You will be required to post your assumed routine for the rest of the week by the end of said week, either toward the beginning or anywhere along the way before the end date. Weeks will start on Sunday and end on Saturday as they do in the real world.
Character RulesCharacters for the forum RP will be made in the Character Compendium section and go through approval like any other character. In addition to the character profile, make a note that the character will be meant for the forum RP. Any character currently in the forum RP cannot be used on the server, and vice versa. There is no limit to how many forum RP characters you may have at one time, but as a rule of fairness and to keep things from getting too cluttered, you may only have 3 active at most at one time, and when making posts, assign a color to each character's text to differentiate between them.
If you wish to transfer a character from the forum rp to the server rp, or server rp to the forum rp, follow these steps. First, announce your plan on the character page. Then, ICly isolate them from either Surna or the travel group, grant them proper travel time and a method of travel, and they can either the forum RP at some point, depending on the distance required to join up and how fast they can travel. Discuss this with an administrator to iron out the details.
In addition to these things, you are expected to keep track of which of your characters are partaking in Forum RP and which are partaking in Server RP by listing all your Forum RP characters in ]this thread:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Keep them all managed in a single post. Admins will check this thread regularly to make sure it's adhered to.
Roleplay CreationAdministrators will be responsible for creating and managing all the roleplays. When we're comfortable with the model that has been set up, and we believe it can function without fault, then, Forum RP Coordinators will be appointed, much like Event Coordinators, to lead side RP's that will also follow the rules above. Beyond that, all common sense rules and otherwise applicable rules from the forum and server apply to this rp setting.
