Saren was known to his village as the weak link of his family. He grew up with two brothers who were always bigger and stronger than he was. He would try his best to impress them by trying to help around in the farm, but the most he was useful for was picking out the weeds. His mother always believed in him and told him that his day would come to shine in front of everyone. Saren took these words to heart and always kept them with him no matter where he went.
His father would come home from a place of learning things such as engineering and constructions, bringing books to Saren for him to read. Saren loved reading with his father side by side, he would read the books his father finished and his father would read new books. Saren never understood any of the more complicated ones but he loved any adventure stories he could find. He read of deadly adventures and the amazing enemies and fates they would face. Saren decided that he found his way to show everyone he wasn't a failure. He became his own personal hero, putting a pot on his head and putting a cloth around his neck to have a cape. He would fire acorns from his slingshot at imaginary enemies, saying he is putting them back in their places.
Saren started to grow older and older, reaching the age of 24. His father came to him and put his hands on his shoulders, telling him that he should always follow his dreams and never give up. The next day Saren packed his things and set off into the woods, saying to his family that he would make his own adventures and write about them. Saren hiked through the woods, having nothing but a few changes of clothes, some food, and a trusty dagger by his side. He heard howls in the night as he kept going through the darkness, scared out of his mind. He had finally taken the first steps forward into his dreams and he already felt like running back to the safety of his home.
A distant light started to become clear to him and he ran for it, almost slamming his face into the gate. He could feel it as he started to walk in, that this would be the place he could show he's not a failure.
