Sanctimonia's Monetary System Empty
PostSubject: Sanctimonia's Monetary System   Sanctimonia's Monetary System EmptyTue Sep 04, 2012 6:15 pm

Each coin is precisely measured and minted so that 50 of any of these coins will always amount to 1 lb. when weighed together. So, 50 coins of any kind weigh 1 lb.

Farthing

A copper coin, wide and dense, engraved with the emblem of Sanctimonia on the back side, and a bag of coin on the other.
This is the lowest monetary unit.

Shilling

A silver coin, short and perfectly rounded, engraved with a castle on the back side, and the face of one of Sanctimonia's ruling body on the other.
This coin is worth 10 farthings.
Note: This is the 'dollar' equivalent.

Crown

A coin of gold mixed with bronze, engraved with the Sanctimonian crest on the back, and the image of a crown on the front.
This coin is worth 10 shillings.

Noble

A coin of pure gold, engraved with an outline of Sanctimonia as it would appear on a map on one side, and the scales of justice on the other.
This coin is worth 10 crown.

1,000 farthings = 100 shillings = 10 crown = 1 noble

The following is a list of common or average prices in Sanctimonia's market by which others may base their prices on. Due to troubles with the farmers and ranchers of Sanctimonia, food prices are on the rise.

Cost Item
2 farthings One pound of wheat
4 farthings One pound of flour
12 farthings One chicken
2 shillings One pound of iron; one gallon of ale; One night at a poor tavern
5 shillings One pound of tobacco or conobleer
8 shillings One night at a common inn or tavern
1 crown One pound of cinnamon, or one goat; A banquet for one person.
2 crown One pound of ginger or penobleer, or one sheep; One night at a high class inn or tavern.
3 crown One pig; a week's wages for a low-middle class worker.
4 crown One square yard of linen; a basic chain shirt
5 crown One pound of salt or silver
10 crown One square yard of silk, or one cow; one bottle of fine wine
15 crown One pound of saffron or cloves, or one ox
5 noble One pound of pure mithril.
50 noble One pound of pure gold

I was informed that there seems to be some confusion in the monetary value of items. This is a notice to inform you all of the table of relative worth and currency values, and the shilling is in the range of 1 dollar with some fluctuation between items and markets.
