The Black Watch
Vigilum de nocte "Watchers of the night"
Overview Within the Sanctimonian Military the Black Watch stands out as a unique and unconventional unit given special training in dealing with demons, undead and other 'tainted' foes. Unlike most Santimonian Military units where the focus is on precise and timely drill, the Black Watch primarily focuses on effective group cohesion under pressure, individual survivability and battlefield morale. As such the training of each individual member of the Black Watch is often far more intensive than that of a normal soldier, focusing far more on the individual's strength and ability to survive any given situation. It's also worth noting that your typical Black Watch trooper tends to be far heavier armored than a run of the mill trooper which, while increasing their survivability in battle often leads to a slower response and travel time, making the Black Watch a more defense-minded unit with limited offensive potential.
History The origins of the Sanctimonian army in Surna date back to the final years of Occitan's occupation of the Northern Heartlands in the form of anti-Occitanian guerrilla groups. As a traditional hotspot of anti-Occitanian sentiment Surna soon found it's self to be the most hotly contested city with several rebel groups operating in and around the city, many of which having been armed with equipment produced and smuggled in from Sanctimonia. The insurrection reached it's climax in the January 1st uprising of 740MoP with mass armed uprisings sprang up throughout Surna's poor districts. Nearly two weeks of bloody urban combat would ravage the city before the Sanctimonian army arrived at Surna's gates on January 11th to find the last thirty survivors of the uprising's original thousand clinging on to the city's gatehouse. These thirty men were later known as the Lucky Thirty and are largely credited for allowing the Sanctimonian forces to pass into the city which would lead to Surna's liberation two days later on January 13th.
The newly formed Surnan regiment was christened the Black Watch, in honor of the heroes of the Black Tower who single handedly averted the total destruction of the Heartlands at the hands of Shar's shadow legions. As of now the Black Watch is made of up five thousand soldiers, split into two divisions of arquebusiers and musketeers with one infantry division.
Ranks and Equipment
Quote :
Officer Ranks Note: Officers are given full freedom in their choice of gear. Colonel The Colonel is the commanding officer within the Regiment. It is his duty to equip, train and otherwise oversee his troops during peacetime. In the field the Colonel holds full command over his soldiers and is present during battle (often in the rear) to direct the regiment as he sees fit. Slots: 1 Current Colonel: Tap Sreya Salary: 1200-1500 Shillings per week.
Captain The Captain is the highest ranking front-line officer in most Sanctimonian outfits and is often seen as the second in command, acting as the stopgap between the ranks and the brass. These men primarily assume smaller command roles in the field, commanding groups ranging from a smal squad all the way up to several hundred individuals (often depending on the whims of the Colonel). It is also the Captain's duty to assume the duties of the Regiment's Colonel should he find himself unable to perform his duties as required. Slots: 1 Current Captain: Stom Razel Salary: 700-1000 Shillings per week.
Lieutenant The Lieutenants are seen as the Colonel's "go to" men who command several hundred troops each and answer directly to the Colonel during a battle. It is these individuals one would expect to find attending the Colonel before the battle. Like the Captains the amount of actual combat a Lieutenant sees varies wildly depending on his current objective, be it command of a straight our charge or the tactical command of several squads during a battle. Slots: 5 Current Lieutenants: Salary: 400-700 Shillings per week.

NCO and enlisted Ranks Sergeant Sergeants are considered the career men of the Sanctimonian Military as it is more often then not the highest rank a soldier born of the 'lower class' can achieve, though there are exceptions where uneducated individuals have risen up to the Officer corps. Regardless of their background all sergeants are proven men, having survived countless battles and missions while showing a competence to lead fellow soldiers in battles. It's often joked amongst lower ranking troops that behind every good officer is a few good sergeants pushing him on. Slots: N/A Salary: 250-500 Shillings per week.
Corporal Corporals are what every recruit aspires to be. They are one step above Linesmen and yet warrant none of the duties of higher ranking NCOs (though they are often called upon by their sergeants for important tasks). Slots: N/A Salary: 150-200 Shillings per week.
Linesman Linesmen make up the bulk of all Sanctimonian foot regiments and is the initial rank for all new recruits. They form the backbone of the Military and partake in all sorts of jobs, including less desirable jobs around camp. This is also the rank assigned to all draftees should the military be in need of more troops. Amongst the Black Watch in specific all new recruits are given an initiation, where they are blindfolded and are expected to fight off a group of five or so companions armed with sticks. This rite is known as "Fighting Shar's Shades". Slots: N/A Salary: 75-150 Shillings per week Current Linesmen: -Robyn Kluge
Standard NCO equipment While all gear is standard issue soldiers are often found with different equipment as looting is quite commonplace amongst the lower ranks.

Changed the themesong to something more fitting, added the overview. I plan on adding some other stuff here as well like a service record and maybe some quotes.
