| OssusOf Blight and Blood. Alignment: Neutral EvilWhat is Ossus? Ossus is neither man nor god. Not demon nor dragon. Once, was an archfiend, but no longer. All he must be seen as, however, is a threat; to Aeria, to mortals, to all of the Crystal Sphere and Ao himself.
The only reason Ossus claims to not be a god, is because he looks down to the dieties. He sees them fight to control the land of mortals, all the while they fear the mortal soul's true nature. The Biomass: Before Blight was re-purposed as a Weave of magic, Blight was an unassuming, yet immensely dangerous biomass of blood, flesh, bone and other easily decomposable tissue. Blight feeds on living tissue and magical energy, making it corrosive relative to how much magical energy it has to feed off of. The more victims Blight is fed, the more powerful patches of it can be in a relative radius. So in practice, if Blight is remotely fed a large sized or large amount of a particularly magically fluent species, it will thrive until the food source is gone, able to spread dangerously corrosive and large amounts of Blight in the nearby area. The main flaw of Blight is that it is still a mindless biomass, and needs a Blight-Caster, one who can control Blight, to put it to full use. Through the control of Blight, it can be forced to attack a victim, further increasing the potential effectiveness. Because of the Blight's nature, it is only detectable by nearby beings capable of sniffing out magical taint. Blight is very dynamic in shape, making a master Blight-Caster seem like he is turning mundane objects into dangers, like a common transmuter. The Weave: When Ossus stole a fraction of Surge from The Arbiter, he used it to re-purpose Blight and shift it into a new weave of magic, and by nature, a proverbial anti-Surge. Blight, like Surge, is a more physically present weave of magic that flows naturally though one's body. But, if not properly fed or forced into place by sheer will, it will eat away at the very person gifted with the weave. Why people even use Blight is like why people use Blood Magic. Blight may be spent up as magical energy to cast magic, but in similar nature to blood magic, the power of the spells have to depend on how much or how magically charged the blood inside the caster's Blight reserves is. This may seem like a bother, but Blight-Casters are cannibals. They won't simply eat a victim, they will contort and distort their bodies with Blight to consume things whole, so that they do not need to sacrifice their own well-being to cast magic. A Blight-Caster who is especially cannibalistic can make a wildly unpredictable threat.___________________________________________________________
