| Subject: Character Tropes to describe your character(s) Sun Sep 22, 2019 3:13 pm | |
| Chances are this has been done before, but a whole slew of new characters and changes to old ones have likely happened since then, I'd wager. That, and I'd rather not bump a several-years-old-thread with my own, so hey - new thread, forums ain't dead! Post here with stuff from TV Tropes that fit your character, or that you think might in the near future. No need to post specific tropes or about specific characters if you think it'd spoil something you'd rather keep secret, I just like reading about other peoples' creations. Likewise, there's no limit, if you want to go nuts and list everything that fits your character or if you only want to post a few, go for it. - Tats:
Action Duo: For Tats, if on the verge of combat, look to Vahagn and aim where he's aiming.
Being Good Sucks: To Tats, being good is rarely a matter of it just being the right thing to do, rather than it being something she, and her crew, could benefit from.
Berserk Button: The easiest way to whittle away at Tats' patience is by denying her food or through cabin fever.
Brutal Honesty: The filter between inner thought and spoken word, for Tats, is nearly nonexistent. This applies for even the smallest and most sensitive topics imaginable.
Conditioned to Accept Horror: There aren't many things Tats hasn't seen while tromping out in the wastes, and even fewer things she hasn't fought.
Literal Minded: If it's not in the form of an insult, Tats is prone to confusion when someone uses a turn of phrase or metaphor.
Family of Choice: As far as Tats is concerned, family is determined by trust rather than by blood.
Fatal Flaw: Anger.
Fire Forged Friends: It's rarely a case of Tats liking someone that causes her to stand and fight alongside them, but her loyalty is very rarely ever in doubt once that barrier's been crossed. The BtS crew is no different.
Force and Finesse: The list of people Tats is willing to ask for help when things get up close and personal is incredibly short, but Lin is sure as hell on it.
Punch-Clock Hero: Shotgun shells don't pay for themselves.
Shotguns Are Just Better: Fewer things can punch a bigger hole than a good, ol' fashioned shotgun, as far as Tats chooses to believe.
Tag Team: If the Ironclad fight has taught Tats anything, its that Seyrici makes for a fantastic tag team buddy. Especially when thrown.
Taught by Experience: Like everything she's ever learned so far, Tats needs to touch the stove in order to learn that it is, in fact, hot.
The Lad-ette / Tomboy: Definitely not the spitting image of a prim and proper woman, especially for the times. Tats is a violent, unsophisticated, and predominantly masculine character.
Then Let Me Be Evil: Branded an Outlaw from an early age, Tats has seen it fit to become the biggest, toughest, greatest Outlaw the world has ever seen.
Vitriolic Best Buds: Tats has a great respect and trust for a number of people, including Kra'Skir, even if most of their exchanges comprise of insults and balled fists.
Walking the Earth: Tats has spent most, if not all of her life wandering the wastes, and she'll likely continue for the remainder of it.
What the Hell Is That Accent?: Nobody knows. Nobody will ever know.
Weapon of Choice: If not her fists, then a shotgun.
- Connor Sareth:
Adorkable: Despite being well-mannered and polite, Connor is also terribly inept at being outgoing or sociable, not for a lack of trying.
Bookworm: Whenever traveling, some form of literature is always near the top of Connor's lists of essentials that need to be packed.
Chronic Hero Syndrome: Being somewhat naively idealistic and altruistic, there's very few things Connor can willingly let happen if deemed unjust, no matter how big or small.
Comes Great Responsibility: Connor is definitely somewhat different than other kids his age, having been privileged with a greater form of strict education and unique, innate talents. These, however, are things he's been taught, and strongly believes, should be used for a greater purpose, even if at the cost of a normal life.
Had To Be Sharp: From an early age, being strong and resourceful in the face of opposition has been a necessity.
Kid Hero: Connor is 14 years old as of New Era.
Literal Minded: See; the 'Boat-Rope Incident'.
Martial Pacifist: Despite having an entire childhood's worth of training behind him, Connor's compassion and idealism often drives him to heavily favor pacifist methods to problem solving, and resent the needless use of violence. See also; Reluctant Warrior
Parental Abandonment: Largely due to his upbringing and the circumstances surrounding it, Connor has never had the chance to know his parents. Memories of his mother and father are entirely nonexistent to him, and only him, while others seem to remember them fondly.
Socially Awkward Hero: Fighting off twisted, blood-thirsty mutants is comparatively a much, much easier task to Connor than talking to girls.
Student and Master Team: For Connor, there's only one person who's lessons are valued the most, and who's company is always comforting, and that's Friedrich.
The Fettered: Even if naively, Connor possesses an incredibly strong moral compass, and often takes strength in the belief that good will always prevail in the end.
Thou Shalt Not Kill: A mixture of childish idealism as well as a philanthropic upbringing has left Connor very firmly embedded in the belief that the loss of life should be avoided at all costs, even when in self-defense. See also; Heroic Vow
Upbringing Makes the Hero: Generally speaking, Connor's ethnicity and background lends itself to many less-than-pleasant stigmas, but despite this, he believes he can make a difference.
You Can't Go Home Again: While not exactly barred in a literal sense, Connor has never had the chance to have a proper and permanent 'home' during his childhood, and certainly not one he can go back to. The closest thing he's ever known being where ever he and his mentor have chosen to hunker down, which is often very temporary.
